In service manuals, in some cases, the device of units, mechanisms and systems is presented without excessive detail, and the procedure for maintenance and repair becomes easily understandable when reading the text or studying the drawings.
The manual provides detailed technical characteristics of all units, mechanisms and systems of the car and provides recommendations for performing maintenance and repair work.
The repair manuals contain extended information on the following sections:
- four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines;
- complex control systems for gasoline engines “MOTRONIC” M1. 3, M1. 7, M3. one;
- digital diesel control system BMW DDE;
- gearboxes with manual shift ZF and GETRAG, and with automatic shift ZF and GM;
- the differential of the rear axle is normal and of increased friction;
- “swinging candle” type front suspension;
- independent multi-link rear suspension; – power steering and without power steering;
- brake systems with anti-lock braking system;
- electrical equipment and circuits;
- body and its structure, control points for body repair;
- features of operation and routine maintenance.
Recommendations for the operation and maintenance of the car, as well as a table of correspondence of fuels and lubricants, are presented.
The manual reflects the design of vehicles in the basic version.
Therefore, depending on the modification and year of manufacture of the car, the design of individual components and assemblies, as well as the design and location of some elements of electrical equipment, may differ from those described in the manual.
The manual is intended for owners of BMW of the third series, service station workers and car services.
