BMW 4 Series – medium-sized coupes and convertibles manufactured by BMW.
First generation (F32 / F33 / F36; 2013-2020)
On December 5, 2012, official photos and all the information about the BMW 4 Series Concept Coupe were presented, on January 14, 2013, the concept car was presented to the public at the Detroit Motor Show.
Cars of the 4 Series will replace coupes and convertibles of BMW 3 Series (E92). Serial production of the coupe (F32) began in the summer of 2013, the convertible (F33) got on the assembly line in the fall of that year. Initially, the cars had two petrol: 2.0 litres with 245 hp. (180 kW) in the 428i and 3.0 litres with 306 hp. (225 kW) in the 435i and one 2.0-litre diesel with 184 hp. (135 kW) in 420d. Later, in November 2013, there was a gasoline engine in the 420i with 184 hp. (135 kW) and two diesel engines in the 430d with 258 hp. (190 kW) and 435d with 313 hp. (230 kW). These engines are also used in the BMW F30 models.
The official debut of the coupe sedan 4 Series Gran Coupe (F36) took place in March 2014 at the motor show in Geneva.
Second generation (G22 / G23 / G26; 2020 – present)
The second generation of the BMW 4 Series consists of the BMW G22 (coupe version) along with the upcoming BMW G23 (convertible version) and BMW G26 (sedan version sold as Gran Coupé). The BMW 4 Series (G22) was introduced in June 2020 and succeeded the BMW 4 Series (F32). In October 2020, a 4 Series convertible was introduced in the G23 body with a soft folding top.
The G22 will be available in 3 series (G20). The car is built on the BMW CLAR platform. As in the G20 series, the G22 / G23 / G26 will run on turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. Unlike its predecessor, the new 4 Series has a significant design deviation from the 3 Series to distinguish the two models. The most notable of the design changes in the large front grille, inspired by the BMW 328. The 1930s.
