Vauxhall Motors – Automotive Firm in the UK, from 2017 a division of the French bus Concern Groupe PSA, since January 2021, is part of the Stellantis Concern.

The name of the firm was formed from the name of the district on the shore of the river Thames, where the Norman merchant Fulk Le Brant bought a house at the beginning of the XIII century. At first, this place was called “Fulk’s house” (Fulk’s Hall), and then much later – Voksgola.

Oleksandr Wilson founded a firm in this area in 1857 for the production of steam vessels and tuxes. As an emblem of the company was a chosen griffin from the coat of arms of Le Branta. Griffin, a symbol of Vauxhall, is a creature with the head and wings of the eagle and the lion’s body, a mythical beast, denoted strength and vigilance.

46 years old, in 1903, this company has already been renamed Vauxhall Iron Works Company, built its first car. Two years later, the firm moved to Luton.

In the middle of the XX century, Vauxhall has linked its activities with the German car manufacturer – Opel.

Most cars released by the “Opel AG” concern, sold in the UK, bear the Schildik Vauxhall. Exception is a Vauxhall VXR8 model based on HSV GTS.
