Lincoln Zephyr background information
1st generation • 1936–1942
From 1936 until 1942, the Lincoln-Zephyr name was given to a series of cars slightly more affordable than just the Lincoln. The range included two- and four-door sedans, a coupe and a convertible. All versions were equipped with twelve-cylinder engines with a capacity of 110 hp. with.
2nd generation • 2005–2006
In 2005, the production of the mid-size Lincoln Zephyr sedan by American standards began at a plant in Mexico, but the return of the “historical” name was short-lived – already in 2006 the model name was changed to Lincoln MKZ.
The front-wheel drive Lincoln Zephyr was built on the platform of the first generation Ford Fusion. It was equipped with a three-liter V6 petrol engine with a capacity of 221 hp. and a six-speed automatic transmission. In keeping with the model’s luxury status, unlike the more affordable Ford, the Lincoln Zephyr had expensive interior trim and rich equipment.
