Lincoln MKT background information
The Lincoln MKT is a passenger car model made by the American automobile manufacturer Lincoln. As a top-class crossover SUV, the MKT combines the properties of a station wagon (load volume) and a van (variability) with those of a sports utility vehicle. Produced between 2009 and 2019 in Oakville (Ontario), the car is positioned above the MKX and is technically based on the Ford Flex. Because the Lincoln MKT is better equipped than the Flex, it is classified as a luxury large crossover in America and competes with models such as the Audi Q7, the Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the Buick Enclave.
With the discontinuation of the Lincoln Town Car in August 2011, the MKT replaced it as the MKT Town Car as the exclusive rental and fleet vehicle.
In 2008, Lincoln unveiled a concept vehicle of the same name at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. In contrast to the sedans typical of the brand, this is a 5.30 meter long crossover model that, according to Ford, should combine the comfort of a luxury sedan with the space of a van and the performance of a sports car. The large, two-part radiator grille with vertical slats and LED headlights at the front are visually striking. Chrome-plated 21-inch wheels, a light edge below the window line and the side line that rises in the rear third are characteristic of the side view. A wide strip of LED lights and two chrome-plated tailpipes dominate at the rear.
Most of the design elements of the study can also be found in the production model. The biggest change concerns the rear, which now rises steeper.
