Honda HR-V (Hi-rider Revolutionary Vehicle) is a compact crossover manufactured by Honda.
First generation (1998-2006)
In 1998, the HR-V model debuted, combining incompatible characteristics: off-road and comfortable car.
The car was available in front- or all-wheel drive (4WD Real Time with dual pump) version. Equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission or a branded Honda transmission called Multi Matic S. The HR-V was fitted with 2 types of LEV series engines: 1.6-liter in-line 4-cylinder, 16-valve SOHC and 1.6-liter in-line 4-cylinder, 16 -valve SOHC VTEC.
Second generation (since 2015)
In January 2014, the Honda Urban SUV Concept was presented at the Detroit Motor Show.
In 2014, the production model was introduced in Japan under the name Honda Vezel.
The model was named the second-generation Honda HR-V in the world market and went on sale in 2015.
The car is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine Earth Dreams i-VTEC with 130 hp. paired with a variator and front or all-wheel drive. The car was named Honda XR-V for the Chinese market and was equipped with a basic 1.5-liter or 1.8-liter engine with 165 hp.
For the European market available gasoline 1.5 liters i-VTEC (130 hp) and turbodiesel 1.6 liters i-DTEC (120 hp). A hybrid version is also available in some markets with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine (132 hp, 156 Nm) and a 30-horsepower electric motor (160 Nm). Paired with this installation is a 7-stage preselective “robot”.
The HR-V is built on the Global Compact platform, the same that underlies the Jazz / Fit models. The drive can be front or all-wheel drive (Real-Time AWD). All-wheel drive is implemented as follows: the electronics give commands to the electric motor, which starts the hydraulic pump; that, in turn, activates the multi-disc clutch that connects the propeller shaft to the rear differential.
