Citroen C4/C4 B7 background information
1st generation, 2004–2010
The golf-class hatchback Citroen C4 replaced the Xsara in 2004.
The car stood out for its striking design both outside and inside, and the most noticeable interior detail was the steering wheel with a fixed hub. Buyers were offered versions with a three- and five-door body, and since 2007, a sedan version has been produced in Argentina, which has been exported, including to some European countries (Hungary, Greece, Spain). In the Chinese market, such a sedan was called the Citroen C-Triomphe. In 2006-2007, the Citroen C4 Picasso minivan was created on the basis of the hatchback.
2nd generation, 2010–2018
The second-generation Citroën C4 B7 was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in October 2010. The car is a five-door hatchback. The three-door version was replaced by the Citroën DS4 introduced in May 2011.
The second-generation C4 is the fourth PSA model, and the second Citroën itself, built on the general modular platform PF2 of 2001, designed to meet the conditional requirements of the C market segment.
Compared to the first generation Citroen C4, the new model has identical interior dimensions, wheelbase, and very close exterior width and height. In the internal structure of the body preserved equal distance between the mounting points of the front and rear suspensions, the same front subframe, a similar energy-absorbing structure of the front. The length of the body has changed slightly. The percentage of strong and high-strength steels has been increased in the body construction. Torsional stiffness increased by 25%. The roof is not included in the power scheme of the body, which allowed on some configurations to use instead of the standard steel roof panel of tempered glass.
The line of gasoline engines is partially preserved. The line of diesel engines has been completely changed to third-generation HDi engines.
