Chrysler 300 background information
The Chrysler 300 is a full-size car manufactured by Chrysler since 2004.
First generation (2004-2011)
The first generation 300 was based on the rear-wheel drive Chrysler LX platform with Mercedes-Benz W210 components, including rear suspension design, front seats, steering column, 5-speed automatic transmission design, and 4Matic all-wheel drive system. Chrysler 300 was also equipped with a front suspension on double wishbones from Mercedes-Benz S-Class W220.
In the US, the model was called the Chrysler 300, and the letter C in the name was added only in the version with V8 engines. Moreover, the 300 and 300C differed in the design of the front. In Europe, the model was sold as the Chrysler 300C.
Second generation (since 2011)
The second generation Chrysler 300 was introduced in 2011. The car is built on the Chrysler LD platform. It is a completely redesigned and updated platform, but closely related to the original Chrysler LX platform.
The main differences are the modified body, bi-xenon headlights HID, LED daytime running lights, modified taillights with LEDs and horizontal slots on the radiator grille. The car also has an updated version of the winged Chrysler logo. The new 300 has additional 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. The updated interior received a new dashboard made of soft materials, 8.4-inch UConnect touchscreen, a new steering wheel and center console. Both front seats are equipped with airbags, which have become standard in all configurations. The 2.7- and 3.5-liter engines have been replaced by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 292 horsepower (218 kW) and 260 lb / ft3 (350 Nm) of torque. The 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 363 horsepower remained available. The 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel will be available in Europe.
In 2011, the model is offered in Touring, Limited, 300C and 300C AWD configurations. Touring and Limited will come with a V6 Pentastar, and the 300C will be equipped with 5.7 liters. The 300S was introduced in 2011 at the New York Auto Show with tinted radiator grilles and headlights, as well as 20-inch polished aluminum black discs. The 300S also features 10 Beats Audio speakers. The 300C will be sold as the Lancia Thema in all European markets except the UK and Ireland, where it will retain the Chrysler logo.
