Chrysler Aspen background information
The Chrysler Aspen is a sport utility vehicle from DaimlerChrysler that was offered from 2006 to 2008.
The vehicle based on the Dodge Durango was formally presented for the first time at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2006 and entered the American market in the fall of 2006. The name Aspen was already used by Dodge from 1976 to 1980 as a model name. The Chrysler Aspen is the first SUV developed for the Chrysler brand within the model range of the DaimlerChrysler Group. With the introduction of this vehicle, all American automobile brands had SUV models in their model lines from that point on. From the 2009 model year, the vehicle was purchasable with a hybrid drive.
The Chrysler Aspen was manufactured in the same plant as the Dodge Durango in Newark (Delaware). Production ended at the end of 2008, after which the plant was closed. Due to overproduction, both models were still available new for a while in 2009.
The Aspen offers three rows of seats as standard, so that either 7 or 8 people could be seated – depending on whether the model is equipped with two individual seats or a bench seat for three people in the second row of seats. The turning circle is approx. 12 m, the drag coefficient is 0.391.
