Suzuki Vitara background information
Suzuki Vitara (called Suzuki Escudo in Japan) is a compact crossover manufactured by the Japanese company Suzuki since May 1988. In terms of body width, the car is part of the 5th dimensional group and is a typical representative of the “cross-country vehicle” class, ie off-road vehicle.
The first generation (1988-1997)
Production of the model began in May 1988.
The car was equipped with gasoline engines from 1.6 to 2.0 liters and a 2.0-liter diesel engine. Has options with both manual and automatic transmission. Initially, the only 3-door version of the Vitara, which was equipped with a 1.6-liter in-line 4-cylinder SOHC engine, was available in three body types: hardtop, body with a folding top and van (Van). However, a little later in 1991 there was a 5-door modification, which gained immense popularity.
Second generation (2015-)
In September 2014, the second generation Suzuki Vitara debuted at the Paris Motor Show, which is similar to the concept car Suzuki iV-4, which debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013.
The car has a front suspension type MacPherson strut, rear torsion bar. The engine range is represented by three engines: two petrol and one diesel. Both atmospheres have a volume of 1.6 liters and 120 hp, DDiS diesel torque – 320 Nm, VVT petrol engine – 156 Nm. Suzuki Vitara S is equipped with a 1.4-liter turbocharged Boosterjet (140 hp, 220 Nm).
In 2018, the model was updated. The taillights have changed, and above all the engines. Of course, the atmospheric 1.6-liter was replaced by a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine with 111 hp. and a maximum torque of 170 Nm. Diesel 1.6 DDIS was taken out of production. The 1.0 version of the Boosterjet engine can be combined with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission, while the more powerful 1.4 version can have a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
