Suzuki Ertiga background information

The Suzuki Ertiga is a seven-seater compact MPV produced by the Japanese automaker Suzuki. For the first time, as a concept car R-III (R3), the car was presented at the Indian Auto Show 2010. Sales began on 12 April 2012 in India and 22 April in Indonesia. Maruti Suzuki, under whose leadership the car is produced in India, is called the car the first LUV (Life Utility Vehicle).

Ertiga means R-Tiga, where Tiga in Indonesia means three. R is translated as row (Rows). Thus, the name of the car not only makes it related to its concept, but also denotes a 3-row seating configuration.

The car is equipped with a 1.4-liter petrol engine, or a 1.3-liter diesel engine from Fiat. Ertiga shares the platform with Suzuki Swift. It is also the first monocoque compact MPV in India. Despite the fact that the car is classified as a minivan, it is also meant as a cross between a crossover and a hatchback.
