Pontiac Firebird background information
Pontiac Firebird – a car produced by General Motors from 1967 to 2002. Firebird was launched in the same year as the similar Chevrolet Camaro. Both of these cars are based on the same Pony Car and have a large list of interchangeable components and units. Mercury Cougar was also introduced in the same year.
These cars were mostly fitted with V8 engines manufactured by various divisions of the GM concern. For the most part, engines for the Firebird were manufactured by Pontiac until 1977, and these cars were powered by engines from many factories. Since 1982, it has been decided to install only GM engines.
The Pontiac Firebird is available in a coupe and convertible body and in three models: Firebird, Formula and Trans Am. The Formula coupe and Trans Am received a 5.7-liter V8 engine and a four-speed automatic transmission. With a 3.8-liter V6 at 200 horsepower, the coupe accelerates in 7.8 seconds. Fuel consumption is 10.2 l / 100 km for the coupe and 10.8 l / 100 km for the convertible. The powerful 5.7-liter V8 offers 310 horsepower.
