Toyota Hilux Eighth generation (AN120, AN130; 2015 – present) background information
In the fall of 2015, the new generation Toyota Hilux debuted. The car received new turbodiesel engines of 2,4 l 2GD-FTV with a power of 162-166 hp. 343-400 Nm of torque and 2.8 liters of 1GD-FTV with 176 hp torque 420-450 Nm of torque, mechanical and automatic transmission. In addition, the car is equipped with an updated 2.7-liter gasoline engine VVT-i DOHC 2TR-FE with 158 hp.
The manufacturer offers a choice of body type between: Single Cab with 2 seats, Extra Cab with 4 seats and 5-seater Double Cab. By the way, Double Cab is more popular, which is facilitated by better flexibility of all 4 levels of equipment (Active, Icon, Invincible and Invincible X) and the availability of 6-speed automatic transmission for versions starting with Icon. Modifications Single Cab and Extra Cab are available only in Active configuration, and are equipped with only a 6-speed manual transmission.
The base car Active includes components such as: Bluetooth, 17-inch alloy wheels and chrome grille. At a higher level, the Icont package additionally includes the installation of: a 4.2-inch touch screen infotainment system, cruise control and DAB radio. The Invincible version is expected to be in high demand in the market. Its distinctive features include: 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry system and engine start, LED headlights and automatic air conditioning. In turn, the maximum equipment Invincible X differs: excellent 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome parts and leather interior.
In November 2017, the model was upgraded. The car received a new hexagonal grille coupled with a redesigned front bumper and now the Hilux has become more like the Toyota Tacoma model sold in the US. In addition, the pickup has an unprecedented aggressive top version of Rocco. Glossy black grille trim, wheel arch extensions, silver rear bumper, 18-inch toothed tires, applications on the sides – Rocco modification is offered only with a double cab and a 2.8-liter turbodiesel.
