Alfa Romeo Montreal background information
Alfa Romeo Montreal – a sports car in a bodies of ALFA ROMEO, which was made from autumn 1970 to spring of 1977. There are 3 925 cars manufactured.
The Alfa Romeo Montreal model was designed by Marchello Gandini working in Bertone. As a concept car model was presented at the World Exhibition in 1967, held in Montreal. The model was positioned as a sports car, and the company wanted the model to be on top of technological progress of that time. The machine has gained a great success in the public, thereby accelerating the appearance of a serial car. The first cars descended from the conveyor already in 1970. In the same year, the serial model was presented at the exhibition in Geneva. The name of the model was taken from the name of the city, which first presented the model.
The model was equipped with a V8 engine, which allowed it to develop a speed of 220 km / h. Despite the small volume of 2.6 liters, the car had a capacity of 200 horsepower. This model has become the fastest serial Alfa Romeo at that time.
The hood with an air intake, which ends with lattices over the headlights – a very unusual solution for 1970. Side view reminiscent of the classic sports serial car of that era, and the lattices are located behind the door emphasize the aggressiveness of the car.
In 2007, one of the Alfa Romeo Montreal models was exposed to Gooding & Company auction held at Pebble Beach (California), where it was evaluated at 25,000 – $ 30,000. Lot was sold for 28,600 $.
