The model was positioned as a sports car, and the company wanted the model to be on top of technological progress of that time. The machine has gained a great success in the public, thereby accelerating the appearance of a serial car. The first cars descended from the conveyor already in 1970. In the same year, the serial model was presented at the exhibition in Geneva. The name of the model was taken from the name of the city, which first presented the model.

The model was equipped with a V8 engine, which allowed it to develop a speed of 220 km / h. Despite the small volume of 2.6 liters, the car had a capacity of 200 horsepower. This model has become the fastest serial Alfa Romeo at that time.
