Alfa Romeo 159 background information

Alfa Romeo 159 (type 939) is a small business car produced by the Italian manufacturer of ALFA ROMEO since 2005. 159-A was presented in 2005 Geneva Motor Show, as a Successful Alfa Romeo 156. 159th uses GM / Fiat Premium platform, which is also used in Brera, Spider, and in Kamal Concept Kara.

Total of 247.661 specimens are made.

The car has a fully independent suspension: two-headed front and rear. Despite the large wheelbase, Alfa Romeo 159, thanks to the special design of the front suspension and wheel arches has a relatively small minimum reversal diameter – 11.1 m.

159-A is available with front, and with a complete drive called Q4. The all-wheel drive system uses a dual Differential Torsen type C (front and central differential in one node). Q4 is only available with two engines: gasoline 3.2 liters and diesel by 2.4 liters. On most modifications, a handmade 6-step gearbox (1.8 comes with a five-step), 6-speed automatic Q-Tronic (AISIN AW TF-80SC) is available for diesel engines and for 3.2. The SELESPEED speed box is sold in some countries with a gasoline engine 2.2 liters. The stiffness of the chassis is one of the best in class (180,000 nm / rad). 159-A received five stars in the Euro NCAP rating.
