Alfa Romeo 8C background information
Alfa Romeo Competizione is a two-door sports car produced by the Italian manufacturer of Alfa Romeo. For the first time shown in 2003 as a car-concept at the Frankfurt Auto Show. In 2007, sales of serial version began.
8C Competizione was shown in the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2003. The lines of this two-car car reminds the style of the Alfa 1930s and 1940s, and the name “Competizione” is an indication of the 1948 6C 2500 Competizione, which competed in 1949 and 1950 in Mille Miglia (both times the third). In Mille Miglia 1950 at the wheel sat Juan Manuel Fanhio and Augusto Zanard. Also, she won the Targa Florio 1950s. 3.0-liter prototype was built, but never produced. These 6C 2500 were practically latest machines that were connected with prewar cars.
In 2005, on Pebble Beach Concours D’elegance, Alfa Romeo showed 8C Spider, a convertible coupe, with other light-alloy wheels. The production of Alfa Romeo 8C Spider was confirmed by Sergeio Marchione on 25th September, 2007. It was planned that Spider will also make 500 units in the amount of 500 units, as well as it costs € 20,000 more than coupe. However, only 329 cars Alfa Romeo 8C Spider.
