Lexus UX background information
Lexus UX is a compact luxury crossover from the Japanese car manufacturer Lexus.
In March 2018, the Lexus UX debuted at the Geneva Motor Show. The car is built on a GA-C chassis (McPherson struts at the front and double wishbones at the rear). GA-C is one of the platforms of the TNGA architecture and is used in the Toyota Prius, Toyota C-HR and Toyota Auris, the future Toyota Corolla.
On the UX 200 version, buyers will see a new two-liter A20A-FKS engine with high thermal efficiency (about 40%), adjustable intake phases (“intelligent” VVT-iE system), oil pump variable performance and advanced cooling system. The engine will be available with a fundamentally new variator Direct Shift CVT. It is equipped with a starting transmission based on a pair of gears, as in “mechanics” or “work”, and after the initial acceleration goes to the variator part. This managed to expand the range of gear ratios, improve gas response and increase efficiency.
The second novelty under the hood: a hybrid system of the fourth generation based on a two-liter high-efficiency internal combustion engine (adaptation of the above-mentioned engine). Together with the electric motor, it develops 178 hp. and drives the front axle through a continuously variable transmission. As an option, this hybrid with the UX 250h index has an electric all-wheel drive E-Four with a separate electric motor on the rear axle.
The system is complemented by a new nickel-metal hydride battery, which is more compact than the old one (fits under the rear seats and does not interfere with the trunk) and is equipped with an improved cooling system. And all this is managed by a set of Predictive Efficient Drive and Predictive State of Charge systems. It analyzes the driving style and predicts changes in traffic, as well as conditions on the route, choosing the optimal mode of operation of the installation for the highest battery charge.
The side doors, wings and hood are made of aluminum alloys, and the fifth door is made of polymer. To increase the rigidity of the body in addition to conventional welding used laser, as well as adhesive joints. The car received the latest generation of Lexus Safety System +.
