Lexus LFA background information
Lexus LFA – the first two-seater supercar from the car manufacturer Lexus. Is the second Lexus sports car in the “F” model line after the IS F.
Prior to the production of the production version of the LFA, three prototypes were shown, each of which debuted at the North American International Motor Show with the LF-A label, which is a sign of belonging to this series to the LF concept. Development of the car began in 2000 under the code name P280. The first prototype of the LF-A series was shown in 2005, the second in 2007. It was close to the serial interior and exterior. The third version of the LF-A Roadster was introduced in 2008. A production version, called the LFA, was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2009.
Akio Toyoda, CEO of parent company Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), saw the LFA as an opportunity to create a global symbol for the Lexus brand, embodying the idea that Lexus should connect with its owner.
In the production of Lexus LFA, a specially designed V10 engine and a high-strength body using reinforced carbon fiber – carbon fiber. The LFA body is 65 percent carbon fiber. In production, the LFA was launched in late 2010, at a base price in the US of $ 375,000. In 2012, a special, modified version of the LFA debuted at a base price of $ 445,000, making it one of the most expensive Japanese road cars ever built. Production of the model was completed in 2012 and 500 units of the car were built, the latest version was the LFA Nürburgring Package.
