Subaru Ascent: background information
The large Subaru Ascent crossover has been produced in the US since 2018 and is only sold in the US market.
The car, which can be considered the successor of the Tribeca, became the largest model of the brand. The car has three rows of seats and eight or seven seats (in the latter case, there are separate comfortable chairs on the second row).
Subaru Ascent is equipped with a 2.4-liter petrol turbo engine with a capacity of 260 liters. with., working in combination with a wedge-chain variator. All versions have four-wheel drive.
In the US, car prices start at $ 32,000. The model’s competitors are the Chevrolet Traverse, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander and other large crossovers.
The crossover was first unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show in late November 2017. The car will be produced in Lafayette (Indiana). Ascent will reach American dealers only in early summer 2018.
Ascent is built on the Subaru Global Platform (SGP), known for the XV and Impreza of the latest generation. McPherson struts at the front, multi-link suspension at the rear. It uses an extended and enhanced version of SGP with many additional elements in the power structure to improve rigidity, strength and vibration reduction.
The car is powered by a new 2.4-liter twin-scroll twin-scroll four-cylinder turbocharged engine with intercooler, Subaru Dual Active Valve Control System, with a relatively high compression ratio for the supercharged engine (10.6: 1) and direct fuel injection. It develops a unit of 264 hp. at 5600 rpm and 376 Nm at 2000-4800 rpm.
The engine is paired with a Lineartronic variator, which has a mode of simulation of eight gears and rudder blades, and all-wheel drive. This allows the machine to tow trailers weighing up to 2268 kg. There is also a system of automatic restraint of the car on the slope and electronic stabilization of the trailer, vectorization of traction Active Torque Vectoring, off-road mode X-Mode and assistance with the descent from the hill. Economy options will be announced later, but already announced mileage on one tank over 500 miles (805 km).
