Scion xB background information

The Scion xB is a front-wheel drive compact K1-class crossover. Produced since 2003. The debut of the restyled version of the second generation of the model took place in Los Angeles in 2010.

The first generation Scion xB was almost an exact copy of the Toyota bB, which was not very popular with the Americans, for whom the xB was intended. The claims of US motorists, first of all, concerned the design. He was too angular and straightforward. This explains the fact that the second generation of the model was noticeably rounded and embodied some of the features inherent exclusively in American automotive design.

By 2010, Scion had slightly updated xB. In particular, the bumpers have slightly changed, new body paint colors have appeared, an optional and more advanced than standard audio system and some other little things.

The xB Scion is built on a platform with McPherson struts in the front suspension and a torsion bar at the rear. The standard equipment of the xB includes ABS and dynamic stabilization systems, traction control, front and side airbags, air conditioning, power windows, an audio system with 6 speakers, a USB port and support for the Bluetooth protocol. For an additional fee, in addition to decorative exterior elements, the car can be equipped with a sports steering wheel, sports exhaust, other springs and special filters, as well as alarms and details that help to improve the organization of the luggage compartment.

The Scion xB is powered by a 2.4-liter Toyota 2AZ-FE inline 4-cylinder petrol engine. This unit produces 158 liters. With. power and 220 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, or with a 4-range automatic. The engine consumes 11 liters of fuel per 100 km of track in the urban cycle.

Interestingly, an electric car was created on the basis of xB at one time. True, that project was experimental and did not receive a continuation. But the fact that for six years in a row the American IIHS recognized the car as one of the safest – an absolute fact that works exclusively for the positive image of the hatchback.
