Isuzu Hombre background information
The Isuzu Hombre is a pickup truck based on the Chevrolet S-10 that General Motors produced for Isuzu at its plant in Shreveport, Louisiana, USA. It replaced the Isuzu Faster built at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive plant, which was operated jointly with Subaru at the time, and was only offered in North America. In contrast to the Chevrolet S-Series, the Hombre was only available with a smaller model range and equipment packages. The Hombre differed from the S series and its GM sister models in the front area with different headlights, grille and bumper. The fenders were also shaped differently, which also resulted in different rear windows as these had to be matched to the wheel arch. This construction was the same as on the Brazilian Chevrolet S10. Depending on the version, the Hombre had the Chevrolet S-Series 15 × 7 steel wheels (painted black instead of silver), or the S-10 aluminum wheels, each with Isuzu-logo hub caps.
A four-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 2.2 l and an output of 118-120 hp (87-88 kW) was used in conjunction with a 5-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. 1997 and 1998 was also a V6 engine with 4.3 liters and an output of 140-190 hp (110-140 kW) in conjunction with a 4-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive available.
