GMC Sonoma background information
1st generation, 1991
In 1991, the GMC S-15 pickup – a copy of the 1982 Chevrolet S-10 model – was renamed the GMC Sonoma. The car was equipped with a 2.5-liter 105 hp engine. With. and V-shaped “sixes” 2.8 (125 hp) and 4.3 (160-180 hp). In 1992, a modification of the Sonoma GT with a lowered suspension, rear-wheel drive and a 4.3-liter engine. And an even more powerful version of the pickup became a separate model of the GMC Syclone.
2nd generation, 1994
Already in 1994, the production of second-generation GMC Sonoma and Chevrolet S-10 pickups began. The Sonoma, which had lost its “charged” versions, was offered with a 2.2 four-cylinder engine (118–120 hp) or with a V6 4.3 engine with a capacity of 150–180 hp. With. As before, the model range included modifications with rear or all-wheel drive, with a manual transmission or with an “automatic”, with different cab options.
