Cadillac XLR background information
Cadillac XLR is a luxury roadster from Cadillac, assembled in Bowling Green, Kentucky. As Cadillac’s flagship sports car, the XLR was based on Chevrolet Corvette’s Y platform. The XLR has its own unique design, interior and suspension, as well as a retractable aluminum roof and a Cadillac Northstar engine. XLR ceased production after the 2009 model year.
The car was based on the all-new Chevrolet Corvette (C6). Cadillac introduced the XLR at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show and began production in 2004.
It was the first Cadillac car with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) radar.
The XLR is equipped with standard equipment with heated and cooled leather seats, wood trim, remote wireless access, 18-inch alloy wheels, side airbags, as well as a navigation system, audio system and a DVD using a 7-inch device. The sliding roof itself is made of aluminum.
Engine – 4.6-liter Cadillac Northstar with 320 hp. (238.6 kW), since 2007 tuned to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The XLR was the second roadster offered by Cadillac in recent years. The first was the Cadillac Allanté, released from 1987 to 1993. The XLR was nominated for the 2004 North American Car of the Year. XLR replaced Allante.
