Datsun Redi-GO background information
The Datsun Redi-Go is a car model of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan designed for the Indian market. He was part of Renault-Nissan’s strategy to restore the brand DATSUN set in the 1980s as a favorable brand for emerging markets. A concept study of the Redi-Go was presented at the Auto Expo 2014 in Indian New Delhi. In April 2016, the introduction of the production model, which was delivered between June 2016 and February 2022. The four-door crossover limousine is to be assigned to the microscope class.
With the name constituent “Go” Datsun takes the name of the two models previously positioned in the Asian market, ie the small car GO and the Minivan Go +. The name constituent “Redi” plays on the English word “Ready” and should express that the vehicle is ready for activities of all kinds.
The Datsun Redi-Go was developed in India and initially for India. He was built at Renault Nissan Automotive India in Indian Oragadam near the city of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Datsun uses the small A platform developed by the “Common Module Family” by Renault-Nissan (CMF-A) for the Redi-Go. On this platform, the Renault Kwid is also built. The Redi-Go is slightly lighter and shorter than the kwid and has the greater ground clearance with 185 mm.
