Infiniti Q45 background information
The Infiniti Q45 is a luxury sedan from the Japanese automobile manufacturer Infiniti, offered in three generations from 1989 to 2006 in North America.
All models had a 4.5-liter V8 engine and rear-wheel drive as standard. Optionally available with all-wheel drive and active steering (High Capacity Actively Controlled Steering – HICAS).
In 1991, a hydraulic, computer-aided active suspension was introduced: Full-Active Suspension (similar to Active Body Control).
The first generation (G50 series, 1989 to 1996) was based on the then Nissan President with a shortened wheelbase, the second (FYG33 series, 1996 to 2001) on the Nissan Cima and the third (F50 series, 2001 to 2006) on its successor.
In 2013, Infiniti picked up the model name again with the Q50. However, as the successor to the Infiniti G37, the Infiniti Q50 is significantly shorter than the earlier Q45.
