Chevrolet Colorado background information

Chevrolet Colorado is a mid-size pickup truck manufactured by Chevrolet since 2004, which replaced the Chevrolet S-10.

The first generation

These frame cars are offered in three cab versions with two wheelbase options and all-wheel drive or only rear-wheel drive. The standard for almost all cars in the series is a 4-cylinder Vortec 2800 engine (2.8 liters, 175 hp). The in-line 5-cylinder Vortec 3500 engine (3.5 liters, 220 hp) will be installed on request. Both power units are petrol with a system of distributed sequential fuel injection. They have two camshafts, and the shaft of the exhaust valve drive is equipped with a system for regulating the phases of the timing. The transmission is 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. The front suspension is independent with coil springs or torsion (for 4×4 versions), the rear – dependent with semi-elliptical springs. Brake system with hydraulic drive and vacuum booster, front wheel drive mechanisms. The length of the body with a normal and elongated cab is 1.55 m, with a double – 1.85 m. Load capacity, depending on the version – 670-960 kg.

The second generation

The second generation of Colorado was shown in 2011 at the Bangkok Motor Show. The car will be sold in Brazil under the name Chevrolet S-10. The pickup is equipped with a 2.4 liter petrol Flexpower P4 and a 2.5 liter diesel Duramax P4 163 hp. (380 Nm) and 2.8 liters of Duramax P4 200 hp. (441 Nm).

The pickup is available in five trim levels: Base, WT, LT, Z71 and ZR2. The base version of the Colorado comes with a 200-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Colorado Base is available with rear-wheel drive only. For comfortable and safe driving, the pickup is equipped with a rear view camera, Teen Driver system, Infotainment 3 infotainment system with 7.0-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and 6-speaker audio.

In 2021, the manufacturer reviewed the Colorado trim and refreshed the appearance of the pickup. Instead of the logo on the back panel appeared the inscription “Chevrolet”.
