Audi TT

The Audi TT is a small two-door two-door car of the Audi AG company in body versions of a coupe and roadster. The first generation appeared in 1998.

First generation (8N, 1998-2006)

Audi’s Audi TT 8N coupe has been in production since 1998, and the roadster has been in production since 1999. The development and design of the model began in 1994 at the Audi Design Center, located in California (USA). This model was first shown as a concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1995. The design was developed by Audi’s leading designers: Jay Mace, Freeman Thomas and Martin Smith. The start of production of the model was slightly delayed due to the adaptation to seamless welding, which was not used before. Serial production of the Audi TT was established in two stages. The model was offered with such body types as coupe and roadster.

The first-generation Audi TT was nominated for the North American Car of the Year 2000. The car was also one of the best cars in automotive magazines from the 2000s and 2001s.

The name of the car comes from the legendary European motorsport called Tourist Trophy. Thanks to participation in NSU races, in 1967 the compact TT car was built. The early TTs were built at a factory in Neckarsulm. 28 years later, the first Audi TT concept car was shown at the German Motor Show.

Production of the model was established at the plant in Hungary and built on the platform of the Volkswagen Group A4 (PQ34), which was used for the Volkswagen New Beetle, Volkswagen Golf Mk4, Audi A3, Skoda Octavia, and others.

In 1998, the automotive group Automotive Circle International presented its traditional EuroCarBody AWARD to Audi for the body of the TT sports coupe, beating 13 competitors. The TT body is an interpretation of the lightweight Audi Space Frame (ASF), which the company first used in the assembly of the Audi A8 in the early 90’s. The TT body is a hybrid design – it combines aluminum and steel. 69% of it is made of aluminum. The door and trunk lid are made of steel. The unpainted body of the Audi TT weighs 206 kilograms, 140 of which belong to the aluminum component. If the body was completely steel, it would be 48% heavier.

Production of the model was completed in June 2006.

Second generation (8J, 2006-2014)

The next generation car, the Audi TT Coupe was introduced on April 8, 2006. In addition to visual changes to the exterior and interior, this car was also the first to be used: the adaptive damping system Audi Magnetic Ride, which is offered as an option. In addition, the new TT uses in the development of ASF (Audi Space Frame), a combination of materials made of aluminum and steel, which made the car lighter. Also on sale is a car with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine (built-in four cylinders) with a capacity of 147 kW (200 hp) and a 3.2-liter V6 with a capacity of 184 kW (250 hp). .). Both are equipped with a dual clutch S Tronic (formerly DSG) combined. On the basis of the first in the spring of 2008 was presented, recently developed 1.8-liter TFSI with a capacity of 118 kW (160 hp). There is also a model with a 2.0-liter diesel engine with 125 kW (170 hp).

The new Audi TT Roadster was introduced in March 2007.

TTS

The Audi TTS is a sporty version of the Audi TT, introduced in the second quarter of 2008. As an engine – 2-liter TFSI engine with 200 kW (272 hp). Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h is 5.2 s (Coupe) and 5.3 s (Roadster), respectively.

TT RS

The TT RS is the fastest and most powerful sports version of the Audi TT, it was introduced in the first quarter of 2009.

The engine of the car is taken from the American model Volkswagen Jetta with five cylinders, it is a 2.5-liter TFSI with a capacity of 250 kW (340 hp) and a maximum torque of 450 Nm, which is between 1600 and 5300 rpm.

The car accelerates with a 6-speed manual transmission from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.6 s (Coupe) and 4.7 seconds (Roadster) and reaches 200 km / h in 15.9 s (Coupe) and 16.9 s (Roadster).

From September 2010, in addition to the 6-speed manual transmission, a 7-speed dual-clutch S Tronic is also available. At the same time, TT RS accelerates due to the optimized switching without interruption from 0 to 100 km / h in 4,3 seconds (Coupe) and 4,4 seconds (Roadster).

Third generation (8S, since 2014)

The third generation Audi TT debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2014. Audi TT – agile and fast car, with a good response to driver requests and excellent control of body movements. It copes well with evasive maneuvers while demonstrating a speed of 93.3 km / h, and compact size and excellent traction provide the driver with absolute confidence. Also quite good is the fact that in this model, the high speed limit on turns, it allows you to quickly complete the maneuvers based on them. The TT model perfectly enters turns and with confidence is aligned on a marking line. The all-wheel drive system allows you to get out of turns very successfully by pressing the accelerator pedal as much as possible.

The universal 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine Audi TT has 220 horsepower. This energetic engine makes a powerful sound, but at the same time provides the car with a rather mediocre starting moment. From 0 to 96.5 km / h Audi TT accelerates in 6.3 seconds.

For the 2021 model year, the car has been updated. Audi has made Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, as well as a navigation system. From 2021, the Audi TT is available in the new colors Chronos Gray and Navarra Blue.
