Audi A3 – compact cars with a hatchback, station wagon (since 2012) and sedan (since 2013), produced by Audi from Volkswagen.
Audi A3 8L (1996-2006)
The history of the Audi A3 model dates back to 1996, when a three-door hatchback entered the European market. The ideological successor to the 1974 Audi 50 was based on the PQ34 platform with McPherson struts at the front, but unlike the single-platform Golf of those years, the Audi A3 received a multi-link suspension at the rear instead of a torsion bar. The length of the body was 4152 mm, width – 1735, wheelbase – 2513. In 1999, a five-door hatchback called A3 Sportback appeared in the range. The A3 was fitted with 1.6 petrol engines (101-102 hp, 145-148 Nm), 1.8 (125 horsepower, 170 Nm), 1.8 Turbo (150-180 horsepower, 210-235 Nm), as well as an eight-valve 1.9 TDI turbodiesel. (90-130 hp, 210-310 Nm).
Among the versions were both front-wheel drive and driven on both axles, both with “mechanics” (five or six gears) and with “automatic” (four or five ranges). At the top was the all-wheel drive modification S3 with supercharged “four” 1.8, which initially gave 210 forces and 270 Nm, and after restyling – 225 and 280, respectively. Acceleration to 100 km / h depending on the engine output lasted from 6.8 to 6.6 seconds. The list of equipment of the Audi A3 included six airbags, stabilization system, dual-zone climate control, xenon headlights, alloy wheels up to 17 inches in diameter, combined or all-leather seat upholstery.
The restyling of the Audi A3 took place in 2000.
Production in Ingolstadt (Germany) ended in 2003, but production in Curitiba (Brazil) lasted until 2006 (since 2000). The total circulation is 880,000 cars.
Audi A3 8P (2003-2012)
The second-generation machine, whose length increased to 4215 mm and the distance between the axles reached 2578 mm, was seriously focused on increasing sales. From 2003 to 2012, more than 900,000 Audi A3 cars were assembled.
One of the reasons is the widest choice of modifications. A convertible was added to the three- and five-door hatchbacks (in 2008), the sports version of the S3 could be both three-door and five-door, and at the end of the release, the RS3 with a 340-horsepower turbo engine with five was released. cylinders (up to a hundred – in 4.6 s). On the usual A3 puts eight gasoline engines (naturally aspirated or supercharged, 102-250 hp and 148-320 Nm) and three turbodiesel (90-170 hp, 230-350 Nm). The S3 variant was equipped with a 265-horsepower 2.0 TFSI engine (350 Nm). The choice of gearboxes was reduced to two types of “mechanics” (five or six gears), two types of “robot” S tronic (six or seven gears) and a six-band “automatic”. In nine years, the Audi A3 has come off the assembly line in Germany, Belgium, Hungary and Indonesia.
The restyling took place in 2005 and 2008.
