SsangYong Chairman background information
SsangYong Chairman is a full-size sedan manufactured by South Korean automaker SsangYong since 1997. The car also has an extended version – a limousine. In 2008, a new generation of Chairman was introduced, called Chairman W, to distinguish it from the old Chairman H, which is still in production. In March 2012, Kazakhstan presented this model of the Kazakh assembly, which is being assembled in Kostanay.
SsangYong Chairman 1 (1997-2014)
The car was first produced in 1997 for the South Korean market. Its manufacturer, SsangYong, has long produced SUVs and crossovers, and the Chairman was his first sedan. The 1st generation Chairman was built on the platform of the 1984 Mercedes-Benz E-Class (known as the W124), but the style resembled the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (known as the W140) of the 1990s.
In 2003, the Chairman received a restyling of the front radiator grille, headlights and taillights and an improved interior.
In 2005, the Chairman H (although based on the 1995 Mercedes-Benz W124) had many innovations for the car of that time and price, including: heated and cooled glass holders, rear parking sensors, rain sensors, anti-lock braking system , electronic stability control and anti-slip system, illuminated inscriptions “Chairman” and rear seats with individual electric control; the steering wheel could automatically move behind the driver’s seat.
SsangYong Chairman 2 (since 2008)
In 2008, SsangYong developed its own new flagship Chairman W. It is derived from the SsangYong WZ concept car. “W” means “World Class”.
Chairman W is available in six versions with three engines, a sedan version and an additional 4-AWD Tronic (Mercedes-Benz 4Matic). The XGi360 has an electronic air suspension system with a reel reel that helps reduce noise and vibration, as well as an extended rear space for the passenger, displays to control the car’s entertainment system, similar to MyGIG from Chrysler.
Chairman W – the first Korean executive sedan with all-wheel drive, as well as expensive European sedans.
In 2011, Chairman W was redesigned.
