The Isuzu MU-X is an off-road vehicle produced by the Japanese car manufacturer Isuzu since 2013.
The Isuzu MU-X was born as a successor to the Isuzu MU-7. It is a medium-sized off-road vehicle built in collaboration with General Motors and the result of a common project that also saw the birth of the twin Chevrolet TrailBlazer, both derived from the GMT 31XX platform (renamed i-GRIP by Isuzu) to the side members of the Isuzu D-Max and Chevrolet Colorado.
The MU-X incorporates part of the bodywork from the TrailBlazer, differentiating itself in the front and the interior inherited from the second generation D-Max, the cockpit has seven seats.
In Thailand, where it is produced at the Isuzu Motor Thailand plant, this type of vehicle is referred to as a “PPV”, or Pick-Purpose Vehicle, as it is developed from a pick-up.
An aesthetic restyling (design code RF20) was presented via the internet on 14 February 2017, while the presentation of the model took place on 4 March 2017 at the Bangkok International Motor Show. The innovations are concentrated in the LED headlights, new chrome grille, new front bumper and the quality of the interior is improved with the addition of soft-touch plastics, two-tone upholstery, improved soundproofing with new absorbent foams between the dashboard and body panels . The engine range has remained the same as the 2016 model. The new 8-inch MirrorLink touchscreen multimedia system makes its debut with navigator, radio, bluetooth and USB and Aux socket. In 2018, a new 10-inch tablet-style touchscreen was introduced on the top models.
In China, on the occasion of the restyling, a specific dashboard was introduced with a completely different design compared to the model produced in Thailand, with a more traditional style and wood finishes as well as a different multimedia system.
