Hyundai Galloper is an SUV manufactured by Hyundai Precision & Ind. Co. The first generation of cars Hyundai Galloper I was produced from 1991 to 1998, and the second in the period from 1998 to 2004. It was built on the basis of the first generation Mitsubishi Pajero and was available both in three-door (Innovation) and five-door bodies (Exceed).
The Hyundai Galloper I SUV was equipped with only one 3.0-litre V6 gasoline engine, which produced 141 hp. and a torque of 220 N * m. When driving around the city, a gasoline engine consumes 18.4 litres. A little later, this power unit underwent modernization and its power was increased to 161 hp, and torque increased to 245 N * m. As for diesel engines, it was also one – with a volume of 2.5 litres, however, this power unit produced either 85 hp. either 105 hp The diesel engine spends in the city about 15 litres, but already diesel fuel.
Hyundai Galloper was equipped with both a manual transmission and a 4-speed automatic, and no matter what the engine was, the automatic transmission was sold only as an option for an additional fee. The 141-horsepower version of the gasoline engine with a manual gearbox can accelerate the Galloper to 167 km / h, for a 161-horsepower engine the maximum speed is not much higher and it is 170 km / h. If this engine is paired with an automatic transmission, then the speed drops by 10km / h.
The front suspension on the car is independent with dual levers and torsion bars. The rear is dependent on springs, and on gasoline versions with springs. On the second generation of Galloper, the front suspension was slightly modernized and springs were used instead of torsion bars. In normal modes, the Galloper is a rear-wheel drive vehicle and the front axle can only be connected to it when it is needed. The lack of serious cross-wheel locks also speaks about not-so-good off-road qualities, so in extreme situations with diagonal hanging the car can become helpless.
Hyundai Galloper is a reliable and inexpensive SUV, at one time it represented a pretty good alternative to traditional SUVs of famous brands.
