Subaru Exiga is a 7-seater compact van produced by the Japanese company Subaru since 2008. The car of the same name was presented at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. Domestic sales began in June 2008. The car is also sold in Singapore and Australia (under the name Liberty Exiga, due to the high popularity of the Subaru Liberty model). The name of the car consists of the words “exciting” and “active” (“exciting” and “active”). In the model range, the compact van replaced the Traviq model, in the Japanese market this model is the only seven-seater model from the company, since the Tribeca model is not sold on it.
The car has 3 rows of seats, with the second row being higher than the first, and the third higher than the second; also the 2nd row can be moved forward 180 mm for easy access to the 3rd. Folding tables are integrated into the seat backs. The car also has a panoramic roof and air conditioning for the front passengers, but the air flow regulators are adjusted so that they go to the rear passengers. Safety features include 2 front and side airbags and side curtain airbags for the 2nd and 3rd rows of seats, as well as seat belt pretensioners and folding pedals to reduce leg injuries.
The Exiga is equipped with a 2-liter four-cylinder boxer engine in 2 versions – naturally aspirated or turbocharged with an intercooler [4], which is available only in the top configuration. A 2.5-liter engine is also available on the Australian market [5]. The transmission is a 4 or 5-speed automatic transmission; in addition, a continuously variable transmission is available from September 2009.
The Exiga is offered in 4 trim levels: 2.0i, 2.0i-L, 2.0i-S and 2.0GT, each of which is also offered in an all-wheel drive version (except for the last one, which does not have a mono version). Full-fledged all-wheel drive is also offered only to the GT model, it has an center differential, while the rest of the torque is transmitted to the rear wheels by a hydromechanical clutch when the front wheels slip. The 2.0GT model differs from the others in the darkened radiator grille (in the usual ones it is chrome-plated) and the air intake on the hood.
