The BMW G30 is the seventh generation of the BMW 5 Series, manufactured in 2017.
The BMW 5 Series (G30) was introduced on November 13, 2016, and will be available from February 11, 2017. The variant in a body the station wagon (Touring) has designation G31. This generation replaced the BMW F10. The car is built on the platform “35up” (CLAR) together with the BMW 7 series generation G11, so the new model added in size. It also looks like BMW’s flagship. In February 2017, a version was presented in the body of the station wagon (internal index G31).
At the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2017, BMW introduced exclusively for the Chinese market sedan G38 with a long wheelbase. It has a wheelbase 133 mm longer than the base version and is manufactured by BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. in Shenyang.
On August 21, 2017, the M5 (F90) based on the BMW G30 was presented in Cologne. Its public premiere took place in September 2017 at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, it will be produced exclusively as a sedan, starting in spring 2018 with prices starting at 117,900 euros. The car is equipped with a V8 bi-turbo engine of 4.4 litres with a capacity of 600 hp. and a torque of 750 Nm in the range of 1850-5860 rpm The Competition version was announced on May 9, 2018. Its sales began in August of that year.
The BMW 5 Series in 2020 offers a wide range of powertrains: the 530i is equipped with a 248-horsepower turbo engine, and the 540i – a turbocharged six-cylinder engine with 335 horsepower. All models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Sports cars M are equipped with V8 units with a twin-turbo system with a capacity of 523 to 617 horsepower. Also available is the 530E hybrid model, equipped with a four-cylinder engine and an electric motor with a total output of 248 hp. The base BMW 5 Series consumes 9.4 litres per 100 km in the city and 7.1 litres on the highway.
