Buick Verano background information

Buick Verano is a four-door five-seater front-wheel drive compact sedan manufactured by General Motors since 2011.

The first generation

Verano officially debuted at the North American International Auto Show on January 10, 2011. This is Buick’s first compact model in the United States since 1997 after Buick Skylark.

The Verano is one of three nearly identical models, along with the Buick Excelle GT designed for the Chinese market and manufactured in China, and the Opel Astra sedan, which was unveiled at the 2012 Moscow International Motor Show. This sedan is developed on the General Motors’ Delta II platform together with Chevrolet Cruze, Opel Astra and corresponding minivans, Chevrolet Orlando and Opel Zafira / Vauxhall Zafira Tourer.

Second generation (since 2015)

In 2015, the second-generation Verano was introduced, sold only in China and developed on the D2XX platform, as well as the Opel Astra K.

Third Generation (Pro, since 2021)

The production car was officially unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2021 under the name Buick Verano Pro, and one of the first versions to be released was the GS model. Buick Verano Pro was developed by PATAC with SAIC-GM. It will run on a new 4-cylinder turbocharged 1.5-liter engine.
