Buick Rainier background information

Buick Rainier is a frame SUV that was produced from 2003 to 2007 by the American company Buick, a division of General Motors Corporation.

The combination of a frame body and a tuned chassis gave the Rainier good protection from road noise and vibration. Reinforced noise insulation, especially in the engine compartment, a special glass coating and additional door seals ensured silence inside the car. Its premium interior featured a polished metal or wood front fascia, leather seats, heated front, electrically adjustable and memory settings.

The car was powered by the Vortec 4200 six-cylinder engine as standard. Those who needed more power could order the all-aluminum Vortec 5300 eight-cylinder, one of General Motors’ most popular engines. Both engines were mated to an electronically controlled four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.

The rear-wheel drive Rainier could be ordered as an all-wheel drive version. All-wheel drive turned on automatically in difficult road conditions and did not require any action from the driver. Combined with a limited-slip rear differential, it provided a safe ride on any surface.

Spring independent front and multi-link, electronically controlled, pneumatic rear suspension provided the car with a smooth ride and did not let noise into the cabin. And the steering with a well-tuned amplifier and disc brakes on all wheels made it possible to move quickly.

Since 2005, the optional V-8 is more powerful. In 2006, the model received a slightly updated radiator grille with larger crossbars, chrome door handles and roof moldings. The standard six-cylinder engine is more powerful and all models are equipped with electronic stability control (StabiliTrak).
