Daihatsu Rocky background information
The Japanese Daihatsu Rugger, mostly sold in Europe as Daihatsu Rocky and named Daihatsu Taft for some markets, is an off-road vehicle of the automobile manufacturer Daihatsu.
1st Generation (1984-2002)
The car was built from 1984 and triggered the Daihatsu Taft / Wildcat – the first vehicle of the Daihatsu brand, which was sold in Germany – (series F1, F2, F5 and F6) from Daihatsu, but also until the model year 1988 as a wildcat sold.
He was in the F7 series (F70 short wheelbase – open or closed, F75 long wheelbase – with non-disassembly hardtop, F77 pickup) with 78 hp suction diesel, 2.8 l displacement and the F8 series (F80 short wheelbase, F85RV Long wheelbase and F87 pickup) with 2-liter gasoline engine offered.
2nd generation (since 2019)
At the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2019, Daihatsu presented a new generation of the Rocky. It builds on a newly introduced Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform. The Toyota Raize, also presented in autumn 2019, is identical to the Rocky. The series is powered by a charged 1.0-liter row recycling cylinder gasoline engine with 72 kW (98 hp) or a 1.2-liter Ottmotor with 65 kW (88 hp). In the fall of 2021 followed a hybrid version. With it, the a 60 kW (82 hp) stronger 1,2-liter gasoline engine acts as a generator for the electric motor. This provides 78 kW (106 hp) and drives the wheels. For the Malay market, the vehicle was presented in March 2021 as a Perodua Ativa with the same drive. Since April 2021, Rocky and Raize will also be marketed in Indonesia.
