Brilliance BS2 background information
The Brilliance BS2 or Brilliance FRV (slanted rear) or FSV (notchback) is a car model of the compact class of the Chinese Brilliance brand. In Europe, a prototype near the series on the 62nd IAA in Frankfurt am Main was first presented on September 13, 2007.
A new development of Brilliance is the platform on which the BS2 is based. The only previously announced motorization is a 1.6-liter ottomotor from the license production of Mitsubishi with 79 kW (108 hp) with a torque of 138 nm. This is supposed to use the approximately 1.3 ton car a maximum speed of 180 km/ h reach. Later there is a self-developed common rail diesel engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters. Both engines should meet the Euro-4 emissions standard and can be combined with a five-speed manual transmission and a four-speed automatic.
In addition to power steering, alloy wheels and a metallic paint, the standard equipment of the BS2 also includes things that often cost extra charge in this class. This includes automatic climate, electric windows, a parking aid, a CD radio with steering wheel keys and an electrically adjustable driver’s seat. Front and side airbags, disc brakes with ABS and brake power amplifiers as well as belt tensioner and an electronic differential lock should ensure security.
As a Brilliance Splendor FRV, the model is also produced at the Egyptian Bavarian Auto Manufacturing Company, a company of the German Bavarian Motors Werke AG. The FRV is only produced in a 1.6-liter version that corresponds to the Euro III emplacative standard and has an output of 74.2 kW.
