REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- From under the hood, disconnect and cap the six brake pipes from the proportioning valve.
- Remove the proportioning valve mounting bolts and remove the proportioning valve.
To install:
- Install the proportioning valve on the strut tower and install the mounting bolts and tighten to 4 ft. lbs. (6 Nm).
- Connect the brake pipes to the proportioning valve and tighten the fittings to 12 ft. lbs. (17 Nm).
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Bleed the brake system.
Coupe, Sedan, XT, Loyale, Wagon and Brat

- Raise and safely support the vehicle on jackstands.
- Disconnect and cap the four brake lines from the proportioning valve.
- Remove the mounting bolt and remove the proportioning valve from the bracket.
To install:
- Install the proportioning valve on the bracket and install the mounting bolt. Tighten the mounting bolt to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Connect the brake lines to the proportioning valve and tighten the fittings to 11 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).
- Bleed the brake system.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Top off the master cylinder.

Do not disassemble the proportioning valve, the valve must be replaced as an assembly.
- Remove the 4 lines from the proportioning valve. Cap each brake line to prevent debris from entering.
- Remove the proportioning valve from the bracket.
To install:
- Install the proportioning valve to the bracket, and tighten the retainer hardware snugly.
- Connect the brake lines to the proportioning valve, and tighten the fittings to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
- Bleed the hydraulic brake system and check the fittings for leaks.

- Remove the washer cover.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the washer motor.
- Disconnect the washer pipe from the body.
- Remove the washer tank.
- Disconnect and cap the brake pipes from the proportioning valve.
- Remove the proportioning valve mounting bolts, then remove the proportioning valve.
To install:
- Install the proportioning valve and mounting bolts. Tighten the mounting bolts to 11 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).
- Connect the brake pipes to the proportioning valve. Tighten the fittings to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
- Install the washer tank.
- Connect the washer pipe to the body.
- Connect the electrical harness to the washer motor.
- Install the washer cover.
- Bleed the brake system.
