REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
- Raise and support the rear of the vehicle safely on jackstands.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
- Matchmark and remove the brake drum.
- Remove the brake shoes, springs and other components, and place then on a flat surface. It is a good idea to organize the parts in a pattern to reflect their final installation.
- Disconnect the inlet tube line from the back of the wheel cylinder. Immediately plug or cap the line to prevent system contamination or excessive fluid loss.
- Remove the wheel cylinder assembly.
- Remove the retainer bolts securing the backing plate to the e rear trailing arm assembly.
To install:
- Position the backing plate and gasket, if equipped to the trailing arm, and secure in place using the retainer bolts. Tighten the bolts to 34-43 ft. lbs. (44-56 Nm).
- Install the wheel cylinder and bolts along with the hydraulic line.
- Position and secure the brake shoes and assorted springs and components.
- Attach the brake drum.
- Bleed the brake system.
- Install the wheel and tire assemblies. Lower the vehicle.
