5-SPEED FWD TRANSAXLE

General Information

This transaxle is used in the 1993-96 Impreza, 1990-96 Legacy, 1990-94 Loyale, 1985-89 STD., and 1985-91 XT. The Front Wheel Drive (FWD) transaxle has 5 forward speeds and 1 reverse gear. It utilizes a floor shift lever design for gear selection. All forward gears are provided with synchromesh mechanism that utilize inertia lock-key designs. The transaxle is unitized with the differential and is housed in an aluminum case which is unitized with the clutch housing. The aluminum case is divided into left and right halves. This transaxle is used in front wheel drive only applications.
