REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
Steering Column control Switch
The cruise control switches in all models are mounted on a stalk on the steering column combination switch assembly. Refer to the combination switch removal and installation procedure in Section 8 for details.
Brake Switch
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the driver side lower trim panel.
- Unfasten the brake switch harness connector.
- Remove the lock nut and unscrew the switch.
To install:
- Screw the switch into position on the bracket, and install the lock nut. Do not tighten the locknut until an adjustment is made.
- Adjust the switch by turning the switch clockwise until tip of the screw portion of the brake pedal hits the pedal arm.
- Turn the switch counterclockwise unit the clearance is about 0.02-0.04 in. (0.5-1.0mm).
- Tighten the locknut and install the harness.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Test the cruise control system.
Clutch Switch
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the clutch switch wire harness.
- Remove the lock nut and unscrew the switch.
To install:
- Screw the switch into position, and install the locknut. Do not tighten the nut until the switch is adjusted.
- Push the switch by hand until the pushrod cannot be seen from the tip of the switch.
- Give the switch 1 reverse rotation turn and tighten the locknut.
- Install the wire harness.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Test the cruise control system.
