INSPECTION

NOTE:

If there are no problems in the following “CHECK NAVIGATION OPERATION”, “CHECK DVD-ROM”, “CHECK CONNECTION” and “CHECK EACH VEHICLE SIGNAL”, check the navigation system circuit.

1. CHECK NAVIGATION OPERATION

Start the engine and check that the opening screen is displayed.

Standard: Opening screen is displayed.

OK: Normal.

NG: If not displayed, check that the map disc is inserted correctly. Or, check the power supply connector wiring on the backside of the navigation system unit. If wire connection is correct or has got repaired, check again that the opening screen is displayed.

If it is not displayed at this time, it indicates the navigation unit trouble.

2. CHECK DVD DISC

CHECK MAPPING SOFTWARE

After opening screen is displayed, press «Agree» key to switch to the map screen.

When a screen other than the opening screen is displayed, press the «MAP» key.

Standard: The map screen should be displayed.

OK: Normal.

NG: If map screen is not displayed, any of the followings may be the cause.

• DVD-ROM is not set in the navigation system unit.

• DVD-ROM is inserted upside down.

• Wrong DVD-ROM is in.

• DVD-ROM has scratches or something.

If there are no problems on the DVD-ROM, the unit is faulty.

CHECK DVD VIDEO SOFTWARE

When DVD disc is inserted into the navigation unit, and PLAY is selected, DVD screen appears.

NOTE:

DVD disc can not be played if the region code is different.

Standard: DVD screen appears.

OK: Normal.

NG: If DVD screen does not appear, check the following. If there are no problems, the navigation unit is faulty.

• Is DVD disc inserted in the navigation unit?

• Is the DVD-ROM inserted correctly without upside down condition?

• Region code of navigation unit and DVD disc does not match.

• Is DVD disc type (only DVD-VIDEO) correct?

• Is there any dirt or scratches on the playing side?

NOTE:

• DVD disc screen does not appear while driving or the parking brake is not applied.

• Rear entertainment system can not play MP3 file or DVD-Audio.

3. CHECK CONNECTION

CHECK AUX

1. Press «Audio» key to display the Audio OFF screen.

2. Touch the screen in the order of (1) to (6) shown in the figure.

3. The display will switch to the Dealer Diag Menu screen.

4. Touch {Connection Info.} on the «Dealer Diag Menu» screen.

5. Check that “Connect” is displayed in the respective section of AUX.

Connect: Normal.

NC: Abnormal. Check the signal line connection. If there are no problems, the unit could be faulty.

4. CHECK EACH VEHICLE SIGNAL

1. Press «Audio» key to display the AUDIO OFF screen.

2. Touch the screen in the order of (1) to (6) shown in the figure.

3. The display will switch to the Dealer Diag Menu screen.

• CHECK GPS ANTENNA

NOTE:

When checking the GPS antenna, perform the check operation outdoors to improve the receiver sensitivity.

1. Touch {Vehicle Signal Info.} on the «Dealer Diag Menu» screen.

2. Check that “Connect” is displayed in the GPS Antenna item.

Connect: Normal.

NC: Abnormal. Check the GPS antenna connection.

• CHECK BACK SENSOR

NOTE:

Before starting inspections, check the safety around the rear end of the vehicle and then turn the ignition switch to ON.

1. Touch {Vehicle Signal Info.} on the «Dealer Diag Menu» screen.

2. Pull the parking brake and depress the brake, then put the gear in reverse.

3. Make sure that “ON” is displayed in the Reverse item.

ON: Normal.

OFF: Abnormal. Check the signal line connector. If there are no problems, the unit could be faulty.

• CHECK ILLUMINATION

NOTE:

Before starting inspections, turn the ignition switch to ON.

1. Touch {Vehicle Signal Info.} on the «Dealer Diag Menu» screen.

2. Turn the lighting switch to level 1.

Make sure that the bright switch is not turned ON at this time.

3. Make sure that “ON” lights in the Illumination item and then the screen becomes dim.

ON: Normal.

OFF: Abnormal. Check the signal line connector. If there are no problems, the unit could be faulty.

• CHECK SPEED SENSOR

NOTE:

• Before starting inspections, check the safety around the vehicle.

• Lift up the vehicle as necessary.

When vehicle speed signal is input with the vehicle lifted, DTC is detected in VDC CM. Therefore after servicing, perform Clear Memory of DTC.

1. Touch {Vehicle Signal Info.} on the «Dealer Diag Menu» screen.

2. Move the vehicle 2 to 3 meters (6.6 to 9.8 ft) slowly.

3. Check that “ON” is displayed in the Speed item.

ON: Normal.

OFF: Abnormal. Check the signal line connector. If there are no problems, the unit could be faulty.

• CHECK IGNITION SIGNAL

1. Touch {Vehicle Signal Info.} on the «Dealer Diag Menu» screen.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

3. Check that “ON” is displayed in the IGN item.

ON: Normal.

OFF: Abnormal. Check the signal line connector. If there are no problems, the unit could be faulty.

• CHECK PARKING BRAKE SIGNAL

1. Touch {Vehicle Signal Info.} on the «Dealer Diag Menu» screen.

2. Pull parking brake lever.

3. Check that “ON” is displayed in the Parking item.

ON: Normal.

OFF: Abnormal. Check the signal line connector. If there are no problems, the unit could be faulty.

5. LIST OF MESSAGE

(2) Check the map disc, if the disc is wrong, replace with correct disc.

(3) Recorded data may be wrong, if the message appears even though the two steps above is correct.

Current location is outside area of map data.

Disc is not a MAP DVD.

Inserted disc can not be read, because the disc is non-standard, not supported, data is not recorded, the scratches or dirt are on the disc.

(1) Is the correct disc inserted?

(2) Are there dirt or scratches on the disc recording side?

Check for non-standard shape, or upside down insertion?

Read error, overheat detected.

Consult your Owner's Manual Supplement for details.

Data can not be read because of the abnormal temperature of map playing mechanism inside navigation unit.

Turn the ignition switch to OFF, and wait until the unit temperature lowers. The unit could be faulty, if the message appears even though Step 1. above is performed.

above messages are displayed continuously.

Inserted disc can not be read, because the disc is non-standard, not supported, data is not recorded, the scratch or dirt are on the disc.

(1) Is the correct disc inserted?

(2) Are there dirt or scratches on the disc recording side?

Check for non-standard shape, or upside down insertion?

Player error, Cannot read data.

During DVD/CD playing, data can not be read, because of the abnormal disc playing mechanism inside navigation unit.

(1) Eject the disc once, and then insert.

(2) Turn the ignition switch to OFF, then turn the ignition switch to ACC/ON again to run DVD/CD.

(3) The unit could be faulty, if the message appears even though the above steps are performed.

Disc read error, Check disc.

Inserted disc can not be read, because the disc is non-standard, not supported, data is not recorded, the scratches or dirt are on the disc.

(1) Is the correct disc inserted?

(2) Are there dirt or scratches on the disc recording side?

Check for non-standard shape, or upside down insertion?

(3) Is the playable data type disc?

CHECK DISC

Abnormal mechanism inside navigation unit has occurred.

(1) Is the correct disc inserted?

(2) Are there dirt or scratches on the disc recording side?

Check for non-standard shape, or upside down insertion?

(3) Is the playable data type disc?

PUSH EJECT

Data that can be played is not recorded in the disc.

The unit could be faulty.

REGION CODE ERROR

DVD region code does not match.

Use the DVD disc that support the region code.

PARENTAL ERRO

Can not be played because of parental level setting.

Change the parental level setting of navigation unit before using.

[Phenomenon]

In vehicle information screen,

above messages are displayed.

CAN communication is abnormal, with the ignition switch OFF.

(not connected, and CAN data is not updated)

(1) Check the connection of CAN connectors.

(2) Check the matching with meter and clock display.

(3) Check the DTC of body integrated unit using Subaru Select Monitor.

(4) The unit could be faulty, if the message appears even though the above steps are performed.

[Phenomenon]

Display area such as graph becomes blank.

(data is not displayed.)

CAN communication is abnormal.

(not connected, and CAN data is not updated)

(1) Check the matching with meter and clock display.

(2) Check the DTC of body integrated unit using Subaru Select Monitor.

(3) The unit could be faulty, if the message appears even though the above steps are performed.

Relevant CAN data is abnormal.

[Phenomenon]

In display area for numerical value,

Err

is displayed in spots.

CAN communication is abnormal, with the ignition switch OFF.

(not connected, and CAN data is not updated)

(1) Check the matching with meter and clock display.

(2) Check the DTC of body integrated unit using Subaru Select Monitor.

(3) The unit could be faulty, if the message appears even though the above steps are performed.

Relevant CAN data is abnormal.
