REMOVAL

1. Open the front hood completely.

2. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.

3. Remove the collector cover.

(1) Pull up the two points at the rear (A).

(2) Pull up the two points at the front (B) while moving them forward.

4. Remove the intercooler and the intercooler stay.

5. Disconnect harness connectors of the back-up light switch and the neutral position switch, and remove the harnesses from the bracket.

6. Disconnect the transmission radio ground cord terminal.

7. Remove the pitching stopper.

8. Remove the operating cylinder and suspend it on a wire.

9. Remove the throttle body.

10. Remove water pipe fixing bolts on five locations, and remove the harness clip from the water pipe.

11. Remove the engine hanger and the intake manifold stay.

12. Set the ST.

NOTE:

Use STs by combining the short part of ST2 and the long part of ST3.

13. Remove the starter.

14. Remove mounting bolts on the upper side of the transmission.

15. Lift up the vehicle.

16. Remove the exhaust pipe (front).

17. Remove the heat shield cover.

18. Remove the transmission under cover.

19. Drain the transmission gear oil.

20. Remove the hangar bracket from the transmission.

21. Remove the propeller shaft.

22. Remove the MT gear shift cable and MT gear select cable from MT gear shift lever.

CAUTION:

• Do not bend MT gear shift cable and MT gear select cable at a sharp angle.

• If the MT gear select cable is removed from the selector lever COMPL side of transmission, always replace with new MT gear select cable.

23. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the front arm.

24. Remove the bolt securing the ball joint of the front arm to the housing, then separate the front arms and the housing.

25. Using a crowbar etc. to remove the left and right front drive shafts from the transmission.

26. Remove mounting bolts and nuts on the lower side of the transmission.

27. Set the transmission jack to the transmission.

CAUTION:

Always support the transmission case with a transmission jack.

28. Remove the front crossmember and rear crossmember from the vehicle.

29. While lowering the transmission jack, tighten the turnbuckle of the ST, and incline the engine unit rearward.

30. Remove the transmission.

NOTE:

Move the transmission towards the rear until the main shaft is withdrawn from the clutch cover.

31. Separate the transmission assembly from the transmission cushion rubber.
