INSTALLATION

CAUTION:

• Do not use the air tool and electric tool.

• Always replace glow plugs that have been dropped from the height of 100 mm (3.937 in) or more or exposed to physical shock during removal, even if there is no visible external damage and the resistance values are normal.

• If the glow plug is installed with carbon deposited on the glow plug hole and glow plug, the glow plug and engine may be damaged. Remove all carbon on the glow plug hole and glow plug before installing the glow plug.

• Do not hit the tool to the fuel delivery pipe.

1. Remove the carbon on the glow plug hole.

(1) Prepare a drill with the length of 160 mm (6.299 in) or larger, and the diameter of 4.5 mm (0.177 in).

(2) Wrap a tape of 30 mm (1.181 in) in width around the drill tip.

(3) Insert the drill tip wrapped with the tape into glow plug hole, and then rotate the drill by hand to remove the deposited carbon.

2. Tighten the glow plug by hand until at least one thread is engaged, and then using a deep socket, install the glow plug.

Tightening torque:

11.5 N·m (1.2 kgf-m, 8.5 ft-lb)

3. Connect the connector to the glow plug, and install the intake manifold protector.

Tightening torque:

T: 6.4 N·m (0.7 kgf-m, 4.7 ft-lb)

4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
