FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS)(H4DO 1.5) > Intake Manifold

REMOVAL

1. EXCEPT FOR 2.0 L EURO 5 MODEL

1. Release the fuel pressure.

2. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.

3. Open the fuel filler lid and remove the fuel filler cap.

4. Lift up the vehicle.

5. Remove the under cover.

6. Drain approximately 3.0 L (3.2 US qt, 2.6 Imp qt) of coolant.

7. Remove the air intake chamber and intake boot.

8. Disconnect the engine coolant hoses (A) from throttle body.

9. Disconnect the PCV hose from the intake manifold.

10. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.

• LHD model

• RHD model

11. Disconnect the engine harness connector.

(1) Remove the bolt, and disconnect the bulkhead harness connector from the engine harness connector and rear engine hanger.

(2) Slide the engine harness connector in the direction of the arrow and remove it from the rear engine hanger.

12. Disconnect connectors from the front oxygen (A/F) sensor and the rear oxygen sensor.

13. Slide the front oxygen (A/F) sensor connector and rear oxygen sensor connector in the direction of the arrow to remove them from the bracket.

14. Disconnect the connector from power steering pump.

15. Disconnect the connectors from the engine coolant temperature sensor (A), oil pressure switch (B) and crankshaft position sensor (C).

16. Disconnect the connector from camshaft position sensor.

• LH side

• RH side

17. Disconnect the connector from the oil flow control solenoid valve.

• LH side

• RH side

18. Disconnect the connector from the secondary air combination valve.

• LH side

• RH side

19. Disconnect connectors (A) from the ignition coil and remove the clip (B).

20. Disconnect the EGR pipe from intake manifold.

21. Disconnect the connector from the knock sensor.

22. Disconnect the fuel delivery hose (A) and evaporation hose (B).

CAUTION:

• Be careful not to spill fuel.

• Catch the fuel from hoses using a container or cloth.

23. Remove the intake manifold from cylinder head.

2. 2.0 L EURO 5 MODEL

1. Collect the refrigerant from A/C system.

2. Release the fuel pressure.

3. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.

4. Open the fuel filler lid and remove the fuel filler cap.

5. Remove the air intake boot assembly.

6. Disconnect the connectors (A) from ignition coil on RH side and remove the clip (B).

7. Disconnect the PCV hose (C) form rocker cover RH, and disconnect the connector (D) from oil flow control solenoid valve.

8. Remove bolts which secure the intake manifold protector RH.

9. Disconnect the connector (A) from oil flow control solenoid valve, and disconnect the PCV hose (B) form rocker cover LH.

10. Remove bolts which secure the intake manifold protector LH.

11. Remove the clip (A) securing the engine harness to the intake manifold, and remove the bolt securing the LH side of the multi-function duct assembly.

12. Remove the bolts which secure the RH side of multi-function duct assembly to the intake manifold.

13. Lift up the intake manifold to remove intake manifold protectors RH and LH.

14. Remove the connector (A) from the fuel injector, and remove the fuel delivery pipe (B) from the fuel gallery RH.

NOTE:

Disconnect the quick connector as shown in the figure.

15. Disconnect the fuel delivery hose (A) and evaporation hose (B).

CAUTION:

• Be careful not to spill fuel.

• Catch the fuel from hoses using a container or cloth.

16. Disconnect the A/C pressure hoses from A/C compressor.

17. Disconnect connectors (A) of ignition coil LH, and remove the clip (B) securing the harness.

18. Remove the connector (A) from the fuel injector, and remove the fuel delivery pipe (B) from the fuel gallery LH.

NOTE:

Disconnect the quick connector as shown in the figure.

19. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.

• LHD model

• RHD model

20. Remove the intake manifold from cylinder head.

21. Remove the fuel gallery RH and fuel injector from the intake manifold.

22. Remove the fuel gallery LH, fuel pipe and fuel injector from the intake manifold.

3. MULTI-FUNCTION DUCT ASSEMBLY (2.0 L EURO 5 MODEL)

1. Collect the refrigerant from A/C system.

2. Release the fuel pressure.

3. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.

4. Open the fuel filler lid and remove the fuel filler cap.

5. Lift up the vehicle.

6. Remove the under cover.

7. Drain approximately 3.0 L (3.2 US qt, 2.6 Imp qt) of coolant.

8. Lower the vehicle.

9. Remove the intake manifold.

10. Disconnect the engine harness connector.

(1) Remove the bolt, and disconnect the bulkhead harness connector from the engine harness connector and rear engine hanger.

(2) Slide the engine harness connector in the direction of the arrow and remove it from the rear engine hanger.

11. Disconnect the connector from the knock sensor.

12. Disconnect the water hose (A) and EGR pipe (B) from the LH side of multi-function duct assembly.

13. Disconnect PCV hose (A) and water hose (B) from the RH side of multi-function duct assembly, and disconnect the ground terminal (C) from the engine rear hanger.

14. Remove the rubber cap from the oil pressure switch.

15. Disconnect the connectors and terminals from engine coolant temperature sensor (A), oil pressure switch (B) and crankshaft position sensor (C).

16. Disconnect the connector from camshaft position sensor RH.

17. Disconnect the connector from the secondary air combination valve.

• LH side

• RH side

18. Disconnect connectors from the front oxygen (A/F) sensor and the rear oxygen sensor.

19. Slide the front oxygen (A/F) sensor connector and rear oxygen sensor connector in the direction of the arrow and remove them from the bracket.

20. Disconnect the connector from camshaft position sensor LH.

21. Disconnect the connector from power steering pump.

22. Remove the PCV pipe, multi-function duct assembly and engine harness as a single unit from the engine.

23. Remove the bolt (A) securing the multi-function duct assembly to the PCV pipe, and remove the multi-function duct assembly.

24. Remove the clip (B) securing the engine harness to the PCV pipe, and remove the engine harness.
