1. Lift up the vehicle.
2. Remove the drain plug and filler plug, and drain the gear oil.
CAUTION:
• Gear oil is extremely hot just after driving. Be wary of receiving burns.
• Be careful not to spill the differential gear oil on exhaust pipe. If gear oil is spilt wipe it off completely.

3. Tighten the drain plug.
NOTE:
• For T-type (2.5 L turbo Identification: except for HC model), apply liquid gasket to the drain plug.
• For VA1-type and T-type (2.5 L turbo Identification: HC model), use a new gasket.
Liquid gasket:
THREE BOND 1105 (Part No. 004403010) or equivalent
Tightening torque:
T-type (2.5 L turbo Identification: except for HC model)
49 N·m (5.0 kgf-m, 36.1 ft-lb)
T-type (2.5 L turbo Identification: HC model)
60 N·m (6.1 kgf-m, 44.3 ft-lb)
VA1-type
50 N·m (5.1 kgf-m, 36.9 ft-lb)
NOTE:
For VA1-type, if the hexagonal wrench can not be used on drain plug, tighten with the following torque.
Tightening torque:
34 N·m (3.5 kgf-m, 25.1 ft-lb)

4. Fill the differential carrier with gear oil to the bottom of filler plug.
NOTE:
Carefully refill oil while watching the level. Excessive or insufficient oil must be avoided.
Recommended gear oil:
Oil capacity:
• T-type (2.5 L turbo Identification: HC model)
1.0 L (1.1 US qt, 0.9 Imp qt)
• VA1-type and T-type (2.5 L turbo Identification: except for HC model)
0.8 L (0.8 US qt, 0.7 Imp qt)

5. Install the filler plug.
NOTE:
• For T-type (2.5 L turbo Identification: except for HC model), apply liquid gasket to the filler plug.
• For VA1-type and T-type (2.5 L turbo Identification: HC model), use a new gasket.
