INSPECTION

The door lock control system does not operate.

1. Remove and visually inspect the following fuses.

• No. 3 (in fuse & relay box)

• No. 7 (in fuse & relay box)

• No. 8 (in main fuse box)

Replace any blown fuse with a new part.

Check the power supply and ground circuit, if the fuse has no abnormality.

2. Check the power supply and ground circuit for body integrated unit.

3. Check the door lock switch and the circuit.

4. Check the rear gate opener button and the circuit.

5. Check the key warning switch and the circuit. (Model with double lock)

6. Check the ignition circuit. (Model with double lock)

7. Check the door switch and the circuit. (Model with double lock)

8. Check the door key switch and the circuit. (Model with double lock)

9. Check the door lock actuator and the circuit.

• Without double lock, without keyless access system

• With double lock, without keyless access system

• Without double lock, with keyless access system

• With double lock, with keyless access system

A specific door lock actuator does not operate.

2. CHECK POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT

1.CHECK POWER SUPPLY.

1) Disconnect the harness connector of body integrated unit.

2) Measure the voltage between harness connector terminal and chassis ground.

Is the voltage 10 V or more?

Check the harness for open or short circuit between body integrated unit and fuse.

2.CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT.

Measure the resistance between harness connector terminal and chassis ground.

Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

The power supply and ground circuit are OK.

Repair the harness.

3. CHECK DOOR LOCK SWITCH

1.CHECK DOOR LOCK SWITCH.

Check the input from door lock switch to body integrated unit using Subaru Select Monitor.

1) Prepare the Subaru Select Monitor kit.

2) Turn the ignition switch to ON (engine OFF) and run the “PC application for Subaru Select Monitor”.

3) On the «System Selection Menu», select {Integ. unit mode}.

4) On the «System Selection Menu», select {Integ. unit mode}. Select the {Current Data Display & Save}.

5) On the «System Selection Menu», select {Integ. unit mode}. Select the {Current Data Display & Save}. Operate the door lock switch, and check the input of the {Manual lock SW input}.

Is the display change to OFF ⇔ ON, when the door lock switch is moved to LOCK?

2.CHECK DOOR LOCK SWITCH.

From the condition in Step 1), operate the door lock switch in the UNLOCK direction, and check the input of {Manual unlock SW input}.

Is the display change to OFF ⇔ ON, when the door lock switch is moved to UNLOCK?

The door lock switch is OK.

3.CHECK POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH.

1) Disconnect the power window main switch harness connector.

2) Using a tester, check for continuity when the power window switch is operated in the lock direction.

Connector & terminal

(D102) No. 2 — (D102) No. 3:

Did the indicator change from "No continuity" (1 MΩ or more) to "Continuity" (less than 10 Ω )?

Replace the power window main switch.

4.CHECK POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH.

1) Disconnect the power window main switch harness connector.

2) Using a tester, check for continuity when the power window switch is operated in the unlock direction.

Connector & terminal

(D102) No. 1 — (D102) No. 3:

Did the indicator change from "No continuity" (1 MΩ or more) to "Continuity" (less than 10 Ω )?

Replace the power window main switch.

5.CHECK HARNESS.

Measure the resistance between the power window main switch harness connector and chassis ground using a tester.

Connector & terminal

(D102) No. 3 — Chassis ground:

Is the resistance 10 Ω or more?

Repair or replace the harness.

6.CHECK HARNESS.

1) Disconnect the body integrated unit connector (i84).

2) Measure the resistance between the body integrated unit and power window switch.

Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

Replace the body integrated unit.

Repair or replace the harness.

4. CHECK REAR GATE OPENER BUTTON CIRCUIT

1.CHECK REAR GATE OPENER BUTTON.

Check the input from rear gate opener button to body integrated unit using Subaru Select Monitor.

1) Prepare the Subaru Select Monitor kit.

2) Turn the ignition switch to ON (engine OFF) and run the “PC Application for Subaru Select Monitor”.

3) On the “System Selection Menu”, select {Integ. unit mode}.

4) On the “System Selection Menu”, select {Integ. unit mode}. Select the {Current Data Display & Save}.

5) On the “System Selection Menu”, select {Integ. unit mode}. Select the {Current Data Display & Save}. Check the {R Gate Release SW input} input by operating the rear gate opener button.

Is the display change to OFF ⇔ ON, when the rear gate opener button is operated?

Rear gate opener button is normal.

2.CHECK HARNESS.

Measure the resistance between the body integrated unit and rear gate opener button.

Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

Repair or replace the harness.

3.CHECK HARNESS.

Measure the resistance between the rear gate opener button and chassis ground.

Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

Repair or replace the harness.

4.CHECK REAR GATE OPENER BUTTON.

Measure the resistance between connector terminals when the rear gate opener button is pressed, and when it is released.

Is the resistance when the switch is pressed 10 Ω or less, and 1 MΩ or more when released?

Replace the body integrated unit.

Replace the rear gate opener button.

5. CHECK IGNITION SWITCH CIRCUIT

1.CHECK IGNITION SWITCH INPUT.

Check the input from ignition switch to body integrated unit using Subaru Select Monitor.

1) Prepare the Subaru Select Monitor.

2) Turn the ignition switch to ON (engine OFF) and run the “PC Application for Subaru Select Monitor”.

3) On the “System Selection Menu”, select {Integ. unit mode}.

4) On the “System Selection Menu”, select {Integ. unit mode}. Select the {Current Data Display & Save}.

5) On the “System Selection Menu”, select {Integ. unit mode}. Select the {Current Data Display & Save}. Check the {BATT voltage (control)} and {IG power supply voltage} input by operating the door lock switch.

Is the voltage 0 V when the ignition switch is OFF, 10 V or more when ON?

Ignition switch is normal.

2.CHECK HARNESS.

1) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

2) Measure the voltage between the body integrated unit harness connector and chassis ground.

Is the voltage 10 V or more?

Replace the body integrated unit.

Repair or replace the harness, fuse and ignition switch.

6. CHECK DOOR KEY SWITCH

1.CHECK DOOR KEY SWITCH.

Check the input from door key switch to body integrated unit using Subaru Select Monitor.

1) Prepare the Subaru Select Monitor kit.

2) Turn the ignition switch to ON (engine OFF) and run the “PC Application for Subaru Select Monitor”.

3) On the “System Selection Menu”, select {Integ. unit mode}.

4) On the “System Selection Menu”, select {Integ. unit mode}. Select the {Current Data Display & Save}.

5) On the “System Selection Menu”, select {Integ. unit mode}. Select the {Current Data Display & Save}. Check the {Door key-lock SW input} input by operating the door lock switch.

Is the display change to OFF ⇔ ON, when the door key switch is moved to LOCK?

2.CHECK DOOR KEY SWITCH.

From the condition in step 1), check the {Door unlock SW input} input by operating the door key switch in the unlock direction.

Is the display change to OFF ⇔ ON, when the door key switch is moved to UNLOCK?

The door key switch is OK.

3.CHECK HARNESS.

1) Disconnect the harness connector of body integrated unit.

2) Disconnect the driver’s door lock actuator harness connector.

3) Measure the resistance between harness connectors.

Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

Repair or replace the harness.

4.CHECK HARNESS.

Measure the resistance between harness connector terminal and chassis ground.

Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

Repair or replace the harness.

5.CHECK DOOR KEY SWITCH.

Check the continuity when the door key cylinder is operated to the LOCK side.

Did the indicator change from “No continuity” (1 MΩ or more) to “Continuity exists” (less than 10 Ω)?

Replace the door latch and door lock actuator assembly.

6.CHECK DOOR KEY SWITCH.

Check the continuity when the door key cylinder is operated to the UNLOCK side.

Did the indicator change from “No continuity” (1 MΩ or more) to “Continuity exists” (less than 10 Ω)?

Replace the body integrated unit.

Replace the door latch and door lock actuator assembly.

7. CHECK DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR AND CIRCUIT (WITHOUT DOUBLE LOCK, WITHOUT KEYLESS ACCESS SYSTEM)

Measure the resistance between the body integrated unit and rear gate lock actuator.

Repair or replace the harness.

4.CHECK HARNESS (REAR GATE UNLOCK).

Measure the resistance between the rear gate lock actuator and chassis ground.

Repair or replace the harness.

5.CHECK BODY INTEGRATED UNIT OUTPUT SIGNAL.

Measure the voltage between the connector terminals of the body integrated unit when moving the door lock switch to LOCK.

Does the voltage change from less than 1.5 V → 10 V or higher? (During lock output)

Replace the body integrated unit.

6.CHECK BODY INTEGRATED UNIT OUTPUT SIGNAL.

Measure the voltage between the connector terminals of the body integrated unit when moving the door lock switch to UNLOCK.

Replace the body integrated unit.

7.CHECK BODY INTEGRATED UNIT OUTPUT SIGNAL.

Measure the voltage between body integrated unit and chassis ground when moving the rear gate opener button.

Does the voltage change from less than 1.5 V → 10 V or higher? (During unlock output)

Replace the body integrated unit.

8.CHECK DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR.

Check the door lock actuator.

Is the door lock actuator OK?

Replace the door latch and door lock actuator assembly.

9.CHECK REAR GATE LOCK ACTUATOR.

Check the rear gate lock actuator.

Is the rear gate lock actuator OK?

It is possible that temporary poor contact occurs. Check the connecting condition of harness and connectors.

Replace the rear gate lock actuator and door latch assembly.

8. CHECK DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR AND CIRCUIT (WITH DOUBLE LOCK, WITHOUT KEYLESS ACCESS SYSTEM)

Replace the rear gate lock actuator and door latch assembly.

Replace the door latch and door lock actuator assembly.

10.CHECK REAR GATE LOCK ACTUATOR.

Check the rear gate lock actuator.

Is the rear gate lock actuator OK?

It is possible that temporary poor contact occurs. Check the connecting condition of harness and connectors.

Replace the rear gate lock actuator and door latch assembly.
