PROCEDURE

1. RELEASING OF FUEL PRESSURE

WARNING:

Place “NO OPEN FLAMES” signs near the working area.

CAUTION:

Be careful not to spill fuel.

1. Remove the fuse of fuel pump from main fuse box.

2. Start and idle the engine until the engine stalls.

3. After the engine stalls, crank it for five more seconds.

4. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

2. DRAINING FUEL (WITH SUBARU SELECT MONITOR)

WARNING:

Place “NO OPEN FLAMES” signs near the working area.

CAUTION:

Be careful not to spill fuel.

NOTE:

• If the fuel pump cannot be operated, consider draining fuel from the fuel filler hose part.

• Be careful that the battery does not run down.

1. Release the fuel pressure.

2. Disconnect the fuel delivery hose from the fuel damper valve (A).

CAUTION:

• Be careful not to spill fuel.

• Catch the fuel from hoses using a container or cloth.

3. Connect the petroleum-safe hose to the fuel damper valve (A), and put the other end of the hose to the container.

4. Operate the fuel pump using Subaru Select Monitor to drain fuel.

CAUTION:

Be careful not to spill fuel.

3. DRAINING FUEL (FROM THE FUEL FILLER HOSE PART)

WARNING:

Place “NO OPEN FLAMES” signs near the working area.

CAUTION:

• Be careful not to spill fuel.

• Fuel may remain in the fuel filler pipe. Before starting work, drain fuel in the fuel filler pipe from the filler opening, using a petroleum-safe pump and petroleum-safe pipe of ø10 or less.

1. Set the vehicle on a lift.

2. Lift up the vehicle.

3. Remove the rear exhaust pipe and muffler.

4. Open the fuel filler flap lid, and remove the fuel filler cap.

5. Drain fuel in the fuel filler pipe from the filler opening, using a petroleum-safe pump and petroleum-safe hose of ø10 or less.

6. Disconnect the fuel filler hoses from the fuel filler pipe assembly.

CAUTION:

• Be careful not to spill fuel.

• Catch the fuel from hoses using a container or cloth.

7. Set a container under the vehicle, insert a petroleum-safe hose of ø10 or less to the fuel filler hose part, and then drain fuel.

Be careful not to spill fuel.
