• When the customer reports vehicle malfunction, inspect the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) indication, HOLD indicator light flash, and diagnostic trouble code (DTC), then diagnose the malfunction according to the following flowchart.

- If the DTC exists, perform the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [JA5A-EL].)

- If the DTC does not exist, the MIL does not illuminate and the HOLD indicator light flashes, perform the applicable symptom troubleshooting. (See SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING ITEM TABLE [JA5A-EL].)
