Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
VERIFY WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS IN COMMON GROUND FOR ABS WARNING LIGHT OR INDICATOR OTHER LIGHTS (TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR LIGHT)
• Turn ignition switch ON.
• Turn signal switch ON.
• Turn headlight switch on and set to HI-beam position.
• Do turn signal indicator light and HI-beam indicator light in instrument cluster illuminate?
Yes
Go to Step 3.
No
Go to next step.
2
VERIFY WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS IN WIRING HARNESS (BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND GROUND FOR CONTINUITY) OR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
• Turn ignition switch to OFF.
• Disconnect instrument cluster (24-pin)
• Is there continuity between instrument cluster connector (24-pin) Terminal 2T or Terminal 3M and ground?
Yes
Inspect instrument cluster (open circuit in instrument cluster).
No
Repair wiring harness between instrument cluster (Terminal 3M and ground).
*3
CHECK FOR SHORT TO GROUND IN ABS/TCS HU/CM
• Disconnect ABS/TCS HU/CM and turn ignition switch ON.
• Does ABS warning light illuminate?
Yes
Replace ABS/TCS HU/CM (ground to short in ABS/TCS HU/CM).
No
Go to next step.
4
INSPECT ABS WARNING LIGHT BULB
• Remove instrument cluster.
• Inspect ABS warning light bulb.
• Is it okay?
Yes
Go to next step.
No
Replace ABS warning light bulb.
*5
VERIFY WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS IN WIRING HARNESS (BETWEEN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND ABS/TCS HU/CM FOR GROUND TO SHORT) OR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
• Is there continuity between instrument cluster connector (16-pin) Terminal 1B and ground?
Yes

Repair wiring harness between instrument cluster (Terminal W) and ABS/TCS HU/CM.
No
Replace instrument cluster (open or short to ground in instrument cluster).
